The Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District and the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has congratulated Comrade Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji on his re-election as Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ogun State Chapter.
In a congratulatory message, Senator Adeola described the re-election as a reflection of the confidence and trust reposed in Ogunsiji's leadership by members of the association.
According to the Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial Distric, the overwhelming support enjoyed by the SWAN chairman is an endorsement of what he described as the impactful achievements recorded during his first tenure, particularly in promoting professionalism, advancing sports journalism, and strengthening collaboration between the media and stakeholders in the sports sector.
Senator Adeola urged the re-elected chairman and the newly inaugurated executive committee to consolidate on existing achievements, remain focused, and continue to champion initiatives that would promote sports development, youth empowerment, economic growth, and social cohesion across Ogun State.
He also commended members of the association for conducting what he described as a peaceful, transparent, and rancour-free election, saying the process demonstrated the democratic maturity of the association.
The Ogun West lawmaker assured the new leadership of his continued support for programmes that promote sports development and nurture young talents in the state.
The Senator further stated that, by the grace of God, his administration, if elected to lead Ogun State in 2027, would work closely with the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, the Ogun State Chapter, and other stakeholders to reposition the sports sector, develop modern sportinginfrastructure, unlock its economic potential, and create more opportunities for talented young athletes.
He wished Comrade Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji and the new executive committee a successful and impactful second term in office
