To put an end to the incessant road accidents at the Sango Tollgate,the border point between Ogun and Lagos states,the Ogun State government says it will relocate the illegal motor park and eradicate street trading in the area.
Commissioner for Environment,Ola Oresanya announced this when he led officials from the Ministry of Environment,Ogun State Waste Management Authority OGWAMA and the Ado-Odo Ota Local Government on a visit to the Sango Tollgate area to find a lasting solution to the incessant accident at the border point.
"I have the directive of the State Governor,Prince Dapo Abiodun,who is worried and concerned about the incessant loss life to investigate and find a lasting solutions to the unfortunate and avoidable accidents at this Tollgate"
"After careful review of the situation on ground,with other government officials and other stakeholders,the State government has decided to relocate the illegal motor park and eradicate street trading that have been in existence at the Tollgate in past twenty five years to a more recognised and better organised places far away from the area"
"To prevent the interstate buses and street traders from going back to the spot,the state government in conjunction with the local government will construct barricades on both sides of the Tollgate area while there will be a total clean-up of the area by officials of the Ogun State Waste Management Authority OGWAMA while Ado-Odo Ota Local Government officials in collaboration with Environmental Marshals from the Ministry of Environment will ensure compliance with the new order"Oresanya concluded.
The relocation and eradication exercise will commence in few days time.
