The Ogun State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, in collaboration with the Ijebu Ode Local Government, has firmly debunked reports circulating on social media alleging the suspension of some prominent Ijebu traditional chiefs.
The false report claimed that the Kakanfo of Ijebu Land, Chief Abimbola Okenla; the Lapoekun of Ijebu Land, Chief Tunde Odulaja; and the Madasa of Ijebu Land, Chief Lekan Oshifeso, had been suspended from the Ijebu Council of Chiefs.
In a joint clarification, the Ministry and the Local Government described the allegation as entirely unfounded, misleading, and the handiwork of mischief makers seeking to sow confusion and disharmony within Ijebu Land.
They emphasized that no suspension or disciplinary action has been taken or approved by any recognized traditional institution, the Ijebu Council of Chiefs, or the Ogun State Government regarding the named chiefs.
According to the statement, chieftaincy affairs in Ogun State are strictly regulated by established laws, customs, and due process, none of which has been invoked or initiated in respect of the said traditional rulers.
Members of the public are therefore urged to disregard the false report and to rely only on official government communication channels for verified and accurate information on chieftaincy and governance matters in the state.
