As part of activities marking year 2024 World Sports Journalists' Day, the Ogun state chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) will on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 train mass communication students of Chrisland University, Abeokuta on Advanced Specialized Sports writing.
The training with the topic: "The Integral Role of Sports Journalism in the Media Landscape" will take place at the broadcast studio of the university on July 2, 2024.
The World Sports Journalists' Day is an annual international holiday for sports journalists to celebrate the importance of sports journalism as a unifying tool to bring people of diverse culture, religion, tribe and class together.
A former SWAN Vice President and veteran journalist, Deacon Kunle Olúwùsì will engage the students on elementary rudiment of sports writing, while the Assistant Manager News of Ogun State Television (OGTV), Biodun Alabi will also present a paper on sportscasting as an aspect of broadcast journalism.
The immediate past chairman of SWAN in Ogun state, Alh. Hakeem AkÃntúndé will equally share his wealth of experience at the event.
The Ogun state Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka will declare the event open, while the Vice Chancellor, Chrisland University, Prof. Babalola will deliver the open remark beginning from 12noon.
The Chairman of the association in the state, Comrade Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji urges members of the association to attend the event punctually.
