Ladan Bosso Releases 15 Flying Eagles Over Passport, Technical Issues

Head coach of Flying Eagles, Ladan Bosso on Saturday decamped 15 players from 40 invited players after spending one week with the team in Abuja.


The 2015 African champions resumed camping last Monday in preparation for the 2023 CAF U20 African Nations Cup in Egypt.


Nigeria qualified for the AFCON after winning the West African U20 Regional tournament held in Niger.


According to Futballgalore, reasons for decamping the players was based on passport issues, performance and injuries sustained during training.


Coach Ladan Bosso led the Flying Eagles to scoring 17 goals in three friendly matches in Abuja.


They defeated Paul E Sports Football Academy (5-0), Capital City (5-0) and Keffi Selected (7-0) in friendlies played on Thursday, Friday and Saturday respectively.


Names of decamped players wasn’t revealed as at Press Time.


The technical crew which is made up of Ladan Bosso, Fatai Amoo, Oladunni Oyekale and Olatunji Baruwa should beef up team when camping resumes on Monday.


There are now 25 players in the training camp in Abuja.


Ghana are the current champions while Nigeria Flying Eagles who have won the U20 African Nations Cup seven times are the most successful team. 


The 2023 U20 AFCON will hold between 18th February to 12th March, where all Semi-finalists automatically qualify for the FIFA U20 World Cup.
