Ogun, Nike Art Gallery Collaborate to Attract 100,000 Tourists to Olumo Rock Annual

The Ogun State Government has concluded plans to set up an art gallery at the Olumo Rock Tourist Center in Abeokuta in collaboration with the Nike Art Gallery

The move, which will ensure a more vibrant tourism sector in the State, according to Governor Dapo Abiodun is expected to see a surge in the number of tourists visiting the site from 20,000 annually to over 100,000.

Governor Abiodun stated this on Wednesday when he received the founder of the Nike Art Gallery, Chief (Mrs) Nike Davies-Okundaye, in his Oke-Mosan office, Abeokuta.

Governor Abiodun said that he has instructed that the Events Center inside the tourist center be converted into an exhibition gallery for the Nike Art Gallery.

The Nike Art Gallery, which was opened in 1983 in Osogbo, Osun State, boasts about 8,000 diverse artworks from various Nigerian artists and also provides training for hundreds of aspiring young performance artists and craftsmen.

"I went to Olumo Rock about a month ago and I decided that we needed to do something about restoring Olumo Rock to its old glory. From statistics, Olumo Rock hosts about 20,000 people a year in its current state, and I felt that we could increase that to at least ten times if something is done about Olumo Rock.

"I instructed our team; they've shut down the place, and the target is to ensure that it is ready by the second week in May because during that period, we are hosting the whole country for the National Sports Festival, and about 15,000 people will be here, and I want them to be able to see our tourist sites.

"Apart from Olumo Rock, I want them to see other tourist sites: we have the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Ransome Kuti's home, the MKO Abiola's home, the Centenary Hall, Ake, and the building where the Queen of England stayed when she visited; we have so many attractions, including the Adire market.

"I felt that all these sites put together must be showcased, and the only way to do that is to ensure that they are well presented.

"When I was there, I thought we need to have a befitting gallery at Olumo Rock. My mind went straight to you because I have visited your gallery many times, and I thought we must have a befitting gallery to complement the quality of work we are putting into the place.

"They have a hall there that has been used for events; I told them to shut it down. Practically, we want to bring it down and turn it into a gallery for you to use as an exhibition gallery.

"I felt that since you are going to be exhibiting your work there, it should not be a little poky corner; it should be something big enough to present your artwork. Your place in Lagos is on four floors, but this is just a little outlet to showcase what you do.

"Now that we have ensured that we provide first-class roads, if you leave my office now, you will get to your gallery probably in one hour and twenty minutes, maximum. Now that we've succeeded in having the intra and inter-state roads in place, you can come to Ogun State by rail; you can come by air. We've constructed one of the best airports in Nigeria, and very soon, you will be able to come to Ogun State by sea," he said.

The governor added that his administration, in collaboration with Bolanle Austen-Peters, will establish a creative arts and entertainment village in the state, a facility he confirmed would be ready in the next two months.

Abiodun noted that his administration has promoting and supporting the Adire industry with solar equipment, dryers, among other things, since coming on board in 2019.

He also added that wearing Adire has been made compulsory in the state, adding that his administration has also launched the Adire Ogun Digital Marketplace, where Adire can be bought online.

Governor Abiodun said cultural festivals like the Ojude Oba, the Lisabi Day and others have given sons and daughters of the state the opportunity to express and showcase their cultural awareness while promoting their rich heritage.

"I am sure you have seen how the Ojude Oba has evolved over the years, and this year's Ojude Oba is probably going to be one of the best that has ever been seen because a lot of people have been saying that they will descend on Ijebu-Ode for Ojude Oba because it allows them to just express themselves.

"The last Lisabi Day was unbelievable; it was also an opportunity for the people to express themselves. So, we will continue to push the boundaries in terms of culture and tourism," he said.

In her remarks, Chief (Mrs) Davies-Okundaye affirmed the readiness of her foundation to collaborate with the Ogun State Government in promoting the Olumo Rock tourist center and other tourist attractions to the outside world.

She promised that her foundation would help bring foreign heads of state to the Olumo Rock tourist center.

"I am so happy. Today is one of my happiest days. I want to tell you that our coming to Abeokuta is a done deal. This gallery will bring many heads of state. The one I opened in Abuja already has more than ten heads of state, including those from South Korea and the Czech Republic. Any head of state that comes to Abuja will visit there, and the same will happen here. Ogun is just 45 minutes away, and now that there is rail service, we can easily bring them to see," she said.

She also commended Governor Abiodun for being an advocate for the preservation of Adire, noting that Adire is the local textile of the people of Ogun State that can be sold to Europeans.

Nike-Okundaye commended the governor for creating an online market for Adire, even as she said that Adire would be better known and appreciated more than Ankara and Dutch Wax in the next two years.

"Adire is all over Nigeria, but Ogun has been promoting Adire for over 50 years. I truly appreciate our governor. Since he came on board, we all appreciate him and all the people who are involved in Adire. We thank Governor Dapo Abiodun for his efforts in promoting Adire.

"When President Olusegun Obasanjo was in power, all the Adire he wore was from us. Today, you people have made Adire popular at a time when nobody was wearing it.

"So, I always commend and say thank you to the people in Ogun State. Without you, nobody would be wearing Adire.

"Look at the market you created for the women; it is a collaborative effort between both men and women. This is a good that benefits everyone. Today, the only cloth we can call our own is called Adire.

"This is what we can sell to the Europeans because this is what we have. Even though we have oil, this is our native textile, so we thank you for promoting it, and since you became Governor, you have shown undiluted love for Adire," she said.

Tinubu to Unveil World's Biggest Cotton Factory in Ogun - Abiodun

 

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would perform the groundbreaking for the establishment of the biggest cotton and polyester processing factory in the world at the Special Agro Processing Zone located at the Gateway International Airport, Iperu/Ilisan area of the State. 

Speaking while receiving the former Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Mrs. Oluwatoyin Madein, and members of the Iperu Development Association in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun said the factory, which is under the "Renewed Hope Cotton Resurgent Initiative," would sit on 400 hectares of land and would employ about 250,000 people daily.

He said: "In the next 30-45 days, we will be doing the groundbreaking of the Renewed Hope Cotton Resurgent Initiative that will be done by Mr. President himself. It is going to be a bigger factory, and it will be the biggest cotton and polyester processing factory in the world.

"It will employ 250,000 people per day. The promoters of this factory went around the whole state, and they decided that this is the place they want to site this factory because of the existing infrastructure like the airport, proximity to consumers, and the ability of raw materials to come in centrally.

"We are clearing the site, and this factory is going to sit on 400 hectares of land. It is like a whole new town. The requirements to support this industry can best be imagined. The economic impact on Iperu and its environs, the entire Remoland, Ijebu land, and the whole of Ogun State is beyond imagination," Governor Abiodun said.

He said that apart from the cotton industry, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has also indicated interest in siting a base in the town to secure not only the airport but also to provide adequate security to Iperu and the adjoining towns.

Explaining the rationale behind the siting of the airport at Iperu, Abiodun noted that the town is at the central point of the state, which could be easily accessible from any part of the state, adding that the 100 housing units built by his administration at the Airport Housing Estate would soon be commissioned.

The present administration, the governor informed, embarked on the reconstruction of the old Ibadan and other township roads while public schools and primary healthcare centers were renovated, and a mother-and-child hospital was brought to the town.

He commended the former Accountant General of the Federation for her meritorious service to her state and fatherland, describing her as a true daughter of the state who served without blemish.

"Thank you for all you have done. You have attracted laudable projects like a women's empowerment center, a mini stadium, and the erosion control project to the town as a form of giving back to society.

"You started from a humble background. You began your primary and secondary education here in Iperu and later went to Ogun State Polytechnic, Abeokuta, before proceeding to Ogun State University and working with the Ogun State Property and Investment Corporation (OPIC) before moving to the federal level.

"You are hardworking, diligent, focused, intentional, and a disciplined person. Thank you for making us proud; you are a pride to womanhood. It shows that gender must not be a limitation to what one can attain," he added.

Speaking, Mrs. Madein appreciated the governor for creating a conducive business environment that has attracted a lot of investments to the state.

She said her reason for the visit was to give a report of her stewardship and to inform the governor of her various contributions to state and national development.

"The purpose of this visit is to come and give the report of my stewardship as the Accountant General of the Federation and to let you know that I have represented Ogun State well and contributed to national development.

"It is also to appreciate Your Excellency for the support you gave to me that enabled my success during my tenure," she said.

Chairman of the Iperu Development Association, Otunba Taiwo Oyebanjo, noted that the combination of the governor and the Accountant General has greatly impacted the socio-economic development of Iperu, as the town now boasts modern facilities that have improved the standard of living.

The Ebi of Idena, Oba Lukman Salami, in his contribution, lauded the governor for the transformation witnessed in the last couple of years, noting that the town has moved from a village to a town with modern facilities.

SUSTAIN THE COMMUNICATION IN YOUR ENVIRONMENT WITHOUT NOISE MAKING, OGUN TELLS RESIDENTS

Ogun State Government has called on residents of the state to sustain communication in their environment without making noise as it today joined the rest of the world to celebrate the 2025 International Noise Awareness Day .

 

Commissioner for Environment, Dr Ola Oresanya made the call in a press statement released  to mark the day with the theme "Protect Your Hearing,Protect Your Health". 

According to him,while communication is important,noise pollution is not only an environmental issue but a nuisance that has significant impact on the lives of the people and a serious public concern .

   

"It is realization of this the Ministry of Environment is using the celebration to remind residents of maximum permissible noise level for residential places, places off worship,places of Entertainment and  Commercial areas"

  "For residential areas, the permissible level is 50 decibel during daytime and 35 decibel during night time, for places of worship the permissible level for daytime is 60 decibel and 40 decibel during night time while that of places of Entertainment and Commercial Centres  are equally pegged at 60 decibels and 40 decibel for day and night times"

Oresanya therefore called on households, community leaders and operators of entertainment and commercial centers to abide by the standard decibel as it relates to them to avoid sanctions just he announced that the state government  sanctioned One Hundred and Seventy Five {175 } noise polluters notably religious centers, entertainment houses and commercial outlets in 2024 while forty five (45) were closed down.

He also used the opportunity to call on Community Development Association CDA's in the state to institute maximum permissible noise level in their areas which must be agreed to collectively and obeyed and pledged the state government's continuous efforts at embarking on public enlightenment programmes, stakeholders engagements and  moral persuasion to drive home the need for voluntary permissible noise level compliance.

Ogun monarch marks second anniversary empowers subjects

The traditional ruler of Ogereland, Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State, Ologere of Ogere Remo, Oba James Obafemi Saliu, Kankanbiina II, has called on the sons and daughters of the transit Ogun community to be part of the development of the town.

Speaking during the second anniversary on the throne, he enumerated various investment opportunities available in the community, urging the citizens of the town to seize the opportunities, and assist in developing the town.

The Ologere called on the sons and daughters of the community to participate actively in its development by establishing cottage, small, medium and large industries to service the manufacturing companies in the town.

He called on the indigenes to renovate and convert their family houses along the tarred road to more befitting edifices. "We really need you to come home and be part of the development that is ongoing in Ogere," the monarch said.

 

As part of the activities to mark his second anniversary on the throne, he also commissioned an ultra-modern palace. 

The monarch also empowered many indigenes and non-indigenes in the town on Thursday.

During the empowerment programme, many artisans went home with different tools and equipment, 50 others received  N100,000 each.

Speaking on why people from different ethnic groups benefited from the empowerment programme, he explained that he did that to recognise the diversity that exists in the transit community. "The town has Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Igede, and Tivs, among others. All these people are part of us, and we cannot be doing things for only the Ogere indigenes, so we must extend the hands of fellowship to all these people."

He, however, called on the beneficiaries to make use of the equipment, adding that doing so would make him very happy and would motivate him to do more subsequently.

While commending the efforts of the people of the town for the development in the last two years, he described the last two years as “outstanding with visible achievements."

The occasion was also used to confer chieftaincy titles on some eminent Nigerians. 

On how he has been able to maintain peace in the town, the monarch said it had been solely possible by “The grace of God because the non-indigenes are more than the indigenes of the town. In the whole of Yorubaland, Ogere is the town that hosts the highest numbers of northerners as of today."

He disclosed that in the last two years, the security of the town has been uplifted with constant support from security agencies.

The kabiyesi also disclosed that aside from the ultra-modern palace, the roads in the town have also witnessed a facelift.

Many eminent Nigerians attended the event, including monarchs, government officials, politicians and public office holders.

Gov. abiodun extols Remo Stars over unprecedented victory

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has extolled the commitment and determination of Remo Stars Foot ball Club on its  victory over Niger Tornadoes, describing it as unprecedented feat in the annals of Ogun State.

It would be recalled that the local football team won the  first-ever Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title with a 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes on Sunday, April 27.

The Governor, in a statement signed by his  Special Adviser on Media and Strategy,  Hon. kayode Akinmade said the team has sustained the inherent first- capacity Ogun State is known for, adding that their resilience and perseverance have  really paid off.

Governor Abiodun added that Remo Stars has consistently pushed  for the best with enviable patriotic tendency since its formation..

He said the level of the team's dexterity and capacity earned it   the 2024-2025 Nigerian Premier Football League title as well as its  promotion to the elite league four years ago

The governor, therefore, implored other local clubs in Nigeria to emulate the degree of resilience and doggedness the team displayed  to help in promoting Nigeria's local league to enviable height.

Ogun SWAN Congratulates Remo Stars For Emerging Nigeria Premier League Champions

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Ogun State Chapter has congratulated the Chairman and management of Remo Stars Football Club for winning the coveted Nigeria Premier League Football (NPFL) title with three matches left to be played for the season.

Remo Stars Football Club has crowned champions of the league after a hard-fought one-nil wins over Niger Tornadoes in the week 35 encounter of the league played at Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne.

Adedayo Olamilekan got the only goal of the match for the Daniel Ogunmodede side in the 84th minute of the game to bring Remo Stars' points to 68 from 35 matches, closely followed by Rivers United with 58 points from the same number of games.

In a statement by SWAN Chairman, Micheal-Azeez Ogunsiji described the NPFL title as well deserved considering the team's persistence and consistency in the league for about three seasons which had earned them the continental tickets.

Ogunsiji who noted that the victory was a testament to the huge investment and capacity development of the Chairman of Remo Stars Football Club, Otunba Kunle Soname, commended the entire coaching crew and players for achieving the feat, 25 years after Julius Berger recorded the victory.

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has said that his administration has intensified efforts to provide basic infrastructure and create a conducive business environment, noting that more industries have flocked to the state in six years than in previous administrations.

The state, Abiodun noted, is one of the six states where Special Agro Processing Zones were created in the country in collaboration with the Federal Government, African Development Bank, African Export-Import Bank, and Islamic Bank, adding that his administration decided to partner with private sector players for the prompt take-off of the zone.

Abiodun stated this while receiving the Distinguished Visionary Leadership Award by the Foreign Investment Network (FIN) for his unique leadership style and untiring efforts in opening up more business frontiers in the state at his office in Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.

Speaking on the steps taken to promote the ease of doing business in the state, the governor said that apart from establishing a Business Environment Council to act in collaboration with the State Investment and Facilitation Agency as a one-stop shop, tax payment has been computerized to eliminate multiple taxation.

He said: "This administration has improved the transportation sector by constructing over 1,200 kilometers of roads in six years. We have built the best-equipped airport in Nigeria, and this airport is centrally located.

"We have adopted a multimodal transport system that incorporates air, road, sea, and rail lines. We are extending a rail line that stopped at Agbado to Ogun State," he said.

The state, Governor Abiodun further explained, is blessed with a large population and natural resources, and it is strategically located to take advantage of the biggest market in the country. He disclosed that the government is working to ensure that the state has the cheapest electricity for industries and the people.

While calling on investors to take advantage of the numerous opportunities that abound in agriculture, power generation, manufacturing, and other sectors, the state helmsman urged the Foreign Investment Network (FIN) to intensify efforts in showcasing the state's potential to the outside world and assured that the organization would be involved in planning the proposed State Economic Summit to make it a grand event.

Earlier, while presenting the Distinguished Visionary Leadership Award to the governor when she led a business delegation to the Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the Chairperson of the organization, Dr. Olayinka Fayomi, said the state had witnessed tremendous economic development in the last six years of the administration.

She said: "The governor has done well. Two years ago when we saw what the governor had accomplished, we decided to promote him further. This award is to acknowledge his efforts in expanding business frontiers in the state.

"Investors outside are noting what Ogun is doing, especially in health, education, agriculture, and infrastructure. The governor has made the state a significant business destination. We are attending a business summit in Oman, where we will present the business opportunities that exist in Ogun State."

Fayomi noted that apart from promoting and facilitating investments in African countries, especially Nigeria, over the last 45 years, her organization is also involved in magazine publication in English, French, and Chinese, to expose business opportunities on the continent to the outside world.

Responding, Governor Abiodun expressed appreciation to the Chairperson of FIN for the award, emphasizing that it was an indication that the modest efforts of the administration in developing the state are being recognized, and he called on the organization to continue to attract more investors to come and do business in the country.

Alleged Defilement: Ogun Drops Charges Against School Proprietor, Cites Lack of Evidence

The Ogun State Government has decided not to press charges against the proprietor of Perfect Life School, Igode-Remo, Mr. Ashafa Samson Adelaja, over allegations of defilement.

According to the state Ministry of Justice, following its findings after a thorough investigation of the allegations against Adelaja, the State Government, on Thursday, informed the Chief Magistrate sitting in the Sagamu Magisterial District that it would not be bringing any charges against him.

Accordingly, Mr. Ashafa was unconditionally released from prison custody, according to a statement issued by the ministry.

The statement recalled that Mr. Adelaja was accused of defiling a tender-aged girl who was a pupil in his school and, because of the outrage in the immediate aftermath of his arrest, he was remanded in prison custody from March until his release on Thursday.

The investigation, it said, revealed without contradiction that Mr. Adelaja did not defile the victim.

The statement reads: "The victim had first shown bloody vaginal discharge in February 2025, which was noticed by the victim's mother at home and reported to the headmistress of the school, Mr. Adelaja's wife.

"At the time, the victim's mother agreed that the blood could not have occurred from any incident at the school, as the bleeding was fresh, without spillage on the underwear that the victim wore to the school.

"On 14 March 2025, while at school, the victim needed to ease herself and was helped to the toilet by the headmistress. As the victim peed, the headmistress noticed fresh bleeding from the victim.

"She immediately cleaned the victim with sterile water and cotton wool and sent for the victim's mother. The mother arrived and was shown the bloody toilet bowl as well as the bloody water used to clean her. The victim was handed to her for further treatment.

"The victim's mother subsequently returned with an allegation that her three-year-old child had been molested by Mr. Adelaja.

"Medical examination of the victim showed that the victim was not abused. She had no bruises inside or around her vagina, and her hymen was intact. Her bleeding was caused by other medical conditions which we cannot disclose.

"Circumstantial evidence cast doubts on the occurrence of defilement by Mr. Adelaja, who is the principal of the secondary school while the victim was in the nursery and primary school under the care of Mr. Adelaja's wife."

The ministry added that it was constrained to publicly announce the findings to explain to the public that there is a process behind bringing criminal charges in court, adding that this process is not an emotional one and is not based on public sentiment.

The statement added that the ministry has always warned the public against jungle justice because the public is not equipped to ascertain the truth, adding that the police had access to victims, witnesses, scenes of alleged crimes, and suspects.

It lamented that while the police were still investigating, a misguided member of the public made a very damaging video convicting Mr. Adelaja of defilement in the court of public opinion and accused the Governor of Ogun State of incompetence and neglect of the issue.

This individual, it said, even unlawfully published the name and private contact details of police personnel involved in the investigation, and through his viral video, Mr. Adelaja's reputation was damaged, his liberty was taken away, and his school was vandalized by an irate mob.

"These actions may satiate angry and uninformed members of the public, but they are not justice. Everybody in society is entitled to justice and due process, including an alleged perpetrator.

"Our justice system is founded on the principle of fairness and is one that places a premium not only on ensuring that the guilty are identified, arrested, prosecuted, and convicted, but more importantly, that the innocent do not suffer for a crime they have not committed.

"Mr. Adelaja is a reminder of why everyone, the public and the government alike, must never lose sight of that principle," it said.

Gateway United Mourns Former Captain Chiemeka Onyii

 

Gateway United Football Club has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of its former captain, Chiemeka Onyii, who passed away in a building collapse in Ojodu, Lagos.

Onyi, a commanding central defender, captained the Ogun State-owned club between 2007 and 2009. The Delta State-born footballer was widely admired for his leadership on and off the pitch. Until his death, he ran a football academy in Lagos, nurturing young talents and contributing to grassroots football development.

Reacting to the news, Gateway United’s Acting General Manager, Mr. Niyi Soleye, described the late Onyi as a dedicated professional whose passion for the game was unmatched.

“This is a devastating loss, not just for Gateway United, but for the entire football fraternity,” Soleye said. “Chiemeka Onyii was more than a former captain—he was a symbol of resilience, leadership, and commitment. His contribution to our club and to youth football through his academy in Lagos will never be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and everyone affected by this tragedy.”

Soleye added that the club will consider honoring Onyii’s memory in a befitting manner in the coming days.

Chiemeka Onyii is survived by family members and numerous protégés whose lives he touched through football.

Land grabbing: Ogun arraigns Olu of Obafemi, details how monarch defied House of Assembly, traditional council summons

In  its commitment to fighting land grabbing in Ogun State, the Ogun State Government, on Tuesday, arraigned the Olu of Obafemi Owode, Oba Taofeek Kayode Owolabi, a coronet oba and suspended member of the Egba Traditional Council, for conspiracy to sell property without authority, sale of property without authority, unlawful use of agents, forceful takeover of land, assault of a police officer, and obtaining by false pretence.

The Ogun State Government indicated this in a statement issued by the state Ministry of Justice on Wednesday.

According to the statement, which affirmed the monarch's presumption of innocence, Oba Owolabi is accused of laying unlawful claim to 500 acres of land within Obafemi Owode town and deceiving a developer, one Dr Michael Adeyemi, into paying him ₦75 million for the land.

The statement added, however, that Oba Owolabi never remitted the sun to the landholding families, adding that the traditional ruler also placed thugs on the land, who macheted one individual, while he personally attacked a police officer from the taskforce combatting land grabbing in Ogun State.

The statement added that the Ogun State Government took several steps to call Oba Owolabi to order, saying that he ignored a July 2024 summons by the Ogun State House of Assembly, choosing instead to filed two suits in court, which the Ministry of Justice defended. 

Said the statement: "Oba Owolabi withdrew those cases subsequently but never submitted to the House's investigations. The House Committee would eventually recommend that Oba Owolabi should be prosecuted for land grabbing.

"Under the leadership of the paramount ruler of Egbaland HRM Oba Adedotun A Gbadebo CFR, the Alake of Egbaland, the Egba Traditional Council summoned Oba Owolabi several times but Oba Owolabi defied those invitations. 

"The Ethical Committee of the Egba Traditional Council also engaged Oba Owolabi to no avail. Thus, on 13 December 2024, the Egba Traditional Council suspended Oba Owolabi from his office as Olu Obafemi, for conducting himself in a manner entirely unexpected of a traditional ruler. That suspension is still in effect.

The statement indicated that although  Oba Owolabi perfected his bail conditions, his trial remains ongoing, while the Ogun State Government remains committed to seeing justice done. 

"We would like to assure all members of the public to keep faith with our efforts to restore sanity to land administration in Ogun State and to draw confidence from our resolve to prosecute Oba Owolabi. 

"As long as it is in our power to do so, we will resist all land grabbers no matter how highly placed they appear to be," the statement said.

NAMA BEGINS VALIDATION OF OGUN-AGRO AIRPORT FOR COMMERCIAL FLIGHTS

 

Officials of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), on Monday,  carried out flight checks at the the Gateway International Airport, Ogun State, beginning the process for the commencement of commercial flights.

Speaking after conducting the check, the Manager, Flight Calibration Services, NAMA, Engr. Miri Selzing, said the aim of the check was to ensure that it aligned with the proposed procedures defined for the airport.

He said: "Our purpose for coming here is to check the proposed procedures that have been defined for the airport. This is a significant process and not something that can be concluded in a short time.

"Our visit is the beginning of the validation of the procedure. We have reviewed the procedures that have been drawn up, checked them in the air, and we will analyze them when we get back to our base. From there, we will be able to come up with recommendations and modifications where necessary.

"But physically, the airport looks very good. The runway, about four kilometers long—the longest in the country—is very impressive. The airport has a good terminal building; everything is fine, so it is a great job being done here."

The Manager commended the state government for establishing such an impressive airport in a very short time, calling for the installation of an Instrument Landing System and other navigational instruments to aid flight movements at the airport.

He said the validation of the procedure is to facilitate the arrival of aircraft at the airport, expressing hope that with the level of work done, it would become a destination for airplanes soon. 

"The runway is long and large enough to accommodate any type of aircraft. The airport would handle diversions from Lagos, Ibadan, and Ilorin.

"We commend the Ogun State government for such a laudable project, and we are prepared to assist as more facilities are installed at the airport," the NAMA official concluded.

Also speaking, Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, said the NAMA team has carried out the "23 and the 05" checks and identified the "waypoint," adding that once the flight check has been completed, it would be developed and made available on the Internet for easy access to the airport.

"This is one of the last elements we need to address to obtain commercial approval," the Commissioner noted.

Regarding the level of work done at the airport, the Works Commissioner said that while work on any airport around the world is an ongoing process, Gateway International Airport is 97 percent complete, as the control tower, ATC officers, fire fighters, and other necessary facilities have been put in place.

Oladunjoye Helped Stabilize Our Administration, Defended Our Policies, Programmes Till the End - Abiodun

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has said that his administration would miss the invaluable contributions of the late Comrade Tunde Oladunjoye, who defended the policies and programmes of government till the end.

Governor Abiodun, who stated this on Sunday at the Fidau Prayer for the late Oladunjoye held at St. John Community Primary School, Ijebu Itele, recalled the efforts of the deceased to ensure the emergence, stability, and progress of the present administration in the state.

Abiodun described the late spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state as a resourceful, tenacious, and hardworking man who was one of the three executive committee members that helped stabilize his administration at its inception, noting that he was a good party man.

He said: "As a party man and aide, Oladunjoye never believed in half measures: he went out of his way to defend the programmes, policies, philosophy, and the image of the Ogun State Government under our leadership. He was an effective and highly accomplished spokesman whose brilliance was never in doubt.

"He was a voice of courage and easily the best spokesman Ogun APC has ever produced. His contributions to the modest successes this administration has recorded in various sectors cannot be overemphasized as I commiserate with the family and Ogun APC.

"His doggedness, tenacity, and loyalty to the cause he believed in shone through at all times, and there is no doubt that he contributed a lot to making Ogun APC a big brand. He was frank, down-to-earth, forthright, and focused.

"He was very dear to my heart. Tunde was a prolific writer and a dogged fighter in anything he believed in. As a local government chairman, his legacies are all around for all to see. He was passionate about the plight of the common man."

The governor noted that as a fearless and focused individual, Oladunjoye was a great philanthropist who was concerned about the welfare of journalists and others around him and was selfless in his dealings with others.

He prayed God to grant his soul eternal rest and his family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss, assuring that his administration would support them at this trying time.

The All Progressives Congress State Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, recalled the various challenges they faced together and his contributions to the growth of the party in the state, describing the news of the late spokesperson's death as devastating and tragic.

The State 2025 Amirul Hajj and National President of the Amalgamated Commercial Tricycle and Motorcycle Owners, Repairs, and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN), Prince Adebayo Apelogun, enjoined all to do good while still alive as no one knows when death will come.

Oladunjoye, Prince Apelogun noted, did his best and has gone to rest with his maker, saying all would give an account of their deeds while alive.

The daughter of the late Oladunjoye, Robiat, eulogized her father for being upright, peaceful, and hardworking, while instilling in them the spirit of contentment and simplicity.

Oladunjoye, according to Robiat, was a father to many and a benefactor to countless people, maintaining that he was a gift to humanity, adding that though he is dead, his memory will remain with them.

Abiodun Celebrates Christians at Easter

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has congratulated Christians in the state and Nigeria as a whole on this year's Easter celebration, even as he reiterated the commitment of his administration to forging ahead with its numerous developmental strides.

The governor, in his Easter message in Abeokuta on Sunday, also called on Nigerians to look forward to a brighter future in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The governor, who acknowledged the sacrifices of Christian faithful and the sanctification and purification they went through during the 40-day Lenten period marked by fasting and abstinence, prayer and reflection, and acts of charity amidst the economic and other challenges facing the country, said that the exercise would greatly assist in transforming the country spiritually and help it achieve great things.

He urged Christians across the country to continue praying for the government and fellow citizens and not allow evil people with diversionary tactics to prevail.

He added that just like Christ prevailed over adversity, Christians must continue to pray for the country to overcome its challenges.

Congratulating Christians and other residents of Ogun State, the governor said Easter represents renewed hope and aspirations, as exemplified by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

"As we celebrate Easter, a time-honored tradition that symbolizes renewal and hope, let us reflect on the profound lessons this holiday imparts. Easter, observed by millions, transcends its religious significance, offering valuable insights into the themes of love, forgiveness, and new beginnings.

Hajj 2015: Ogun Govt Appoints Apelogun as Amirul Hajj, Other Welfare Committee Members

Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Board has appointed the Chairman of ACOMORAN in the state, Prince Adebayo Apelogun and thirteen others as welfare board ad-hoc committee members, to facilitate this year's pilgrimage to the Holy Land from the state.

According to a statement on Friday, Apelogun is the Amirul Hajj, while Shaykh Ishaq Olorungbebe will serve as the chairman.

Sheik Lawal Iskeel (Sugar), Sheikh Shile Rufai, Imam Sabeeq Aladi Ibrahim, Sheik Wasiu Raheem Balogun, Imam Abdul-Lateef Ismail Afolabi, TPL. Ogunfowora Kamoru Olayiwola, Alhaji (Imam) Hassan Tijani, Alhaji Hussein Oredipe Mustapha, Alhaji(Imam) Uthman Akewukanwo are members of the committee.

Others are: Alhaja Alarise Korede Fausat,  Alhaja Egunjobi Kafilat Aderonke and  Alhaja Jinadu Zainab Iyabode.

They were being charged by the board to discharge their obligations diligently with high level of commitment so as to ensure comfort and safety of pilgrims from Ogun State. 

EASTER,OGUN URGES RESIDENTS TO CELEBRATE IN A CLEAN,SAFE ENVIRONMENT

 

As the world celebrates this year's Easter season,the Ogun State government has urged residents of the state and visitors alike to celebrate the holiday in a clean,healthy and safe environment.

Commissioner of Environment,Dr Ola Oresanya gave the charge in a statement in Abeokuta.

While congratulating Christians and all residents of the state for witnessing another Easter season and wished them fun-filled celebration,Oresanya urge them to make cleanliness of their environment their watchword by cleaning their surroundings,desilt their drainage channels and store their waste in covered containers that will be  collected by the waste PSP Operators  assigned to their areas.

"All PSP Operators in the state have been mandated to work throughout this festive period to collect wastes in all their assigned areas for effective waste management   especially with expected increase in waste generation from the celebration" he stated.

"Aside from this,all government waste management and environmental officials and equipments have been deployed to various parts of the state for Special Easter Duties which are geared towards maintaining clean environment statewide"

"So residents of the state and visitors are therefore assured of government  readiness to continue to maintain the clean environment the state is noted for at all time as we urge them to play their part especially during this period of Easter celebration"

For traders,Oresanya called on them in all markets in the state to transact their businesses in clean, healthy and safe environment  especially at this period when upsurge in trading activities are expected and urged them not to engage in street trading as Environment Marshalls will be on duty throughout the state to maintain law and order in all markets statewide .  

He did not forget to  tell "emergency traders" who trade in livestock and other items and display them on roadsides and median or in the Booths of their vehicles and other public places statewide to desist and move to markets as there are enough spaces to  accommodate them adding that the state government will aside from seizing their goods,prosecute them for destroying the aesthetic beauty of the state through their illegal street trading.

Oresanya also urged motorists to drive with caution to avoid unnecessary accidents during this festive season as street sweepers will be on duty statewide to keep the state roads clean and called on carnival organizers not to block any street roads for their celebration as the state environmental laws forbids blocking of state roads for parties and carnivals.

Abiodun Unveils Mascot, Logo, Theme Song For National Sports Festival

The 22nd National Sports Festival is gathering momentum with the official communication materials for the Gateway Games being unveiled.

Unveiling the Mascot at a colourful ceremony at the June 12 Cultural Centre in Abeokuta, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun noted that the Gateway Games is not just Ogun State's festival, but Nigeria's festival, assuring that the state is ready to host, calling on all stakeholders to join hands with the LOC to make the sports mundial an unforgettable celebration of talent, unity and national pride. 

Gov. Abiodun represented by his Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele explained that the unveiling was a bold testament of his administration towards delivering the most memorable, inclusive, and most inspiring National Sports Festival Nigerians have ever seen.

According to the governor, the mascot and the theme song reflected the energy, cultural heritage, and aspirations of the good people of Ogun State. 

The governor, however, urged residents of the state to actively participate by attending events, cheering the athletes, and welcome guests with kindness and showcase the culture and hospitality that makes Ogun State a tourism attraction. 

"Today marks another milestone in our journey towards delivering what we promise will be the most memorable, most inclusive, and most inspiring National Sports Festival Nigeria has ever seen.

Olopade, who doubles as the Chairman of the Main Organising Committee, MOC, assured participants that they will witness the best ever in the country. 

The NSC DG noted that, this is the first time the federal government is pulling its weight behind the host state to have a successful event.

He noted that the forthcoming festival will match up with the Olympics standard.

Welcoming the Joint Technical Committee to the unveiling ceremony, the Ogun State Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka appreciated members of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for working tirelessly to meet up with the time frame of the opening ceremony. 

Isiaka maintained that Governor Abiodun has made significant investments in upgrading existing facilities and constructing new ones to meet world-class standards.

According to the Sports Commissioner, the facilities would not only serve the 2024 festival but will stand as a lasting legacy of the National Sports Festival.

The festival, a celebration of Nigeria’s rich sports and cultural heritage, is billed to feature athletes competing in 33 sporting events, and is bound to be Nigeria’s best so far given the huge investments that the Ogun State Government has made into it. A visit to the facilities, state-of-the-art in every sense, will confirm the readiness of the Dapo Abiodun-led administration to give Nigerians a fiesta to remember, a tournament like no other, and a moment of magic.

 

The 22nd NSF is set to kick off, and excitement is in the air in the Gateway State. Speaking during an assessment of the work done on the facilities being prepared for the festival, including the stadium, the Olympic-sized swimming pool, tennis courts, and the handball court behind the main bowl, as well as the Alake Sports Centre, all in Abeokuta, last week, Governor Abiodun hinted that they will not only be used for the upcoming festival but also other competitions, national and international. As he noted, the Gateway International Stadium, which is being renovated in preparation for the NSF, has already been selected by the African Athletics Federation to host the Under-20 athletics competition in 2026, which is why the stadium will no longer be available for non-sporting events in the state once it receives the finishing touches for the NSF. There is, of course a silver lining for owanbe (party) lovers and fun seekers who may feel short-changed by this decision: the government is constructing a pavilion behind the stadium to cater to non-sporting events.

 

Sports, the Governor seems to be saying, is big business and the Gateway State is poised to treat it as such, in line with global thinking. That is why the newly laid tracks, including the long distance tracks, long jump track, tennis court, basket ball court, handball court  and squash hall at the mainbowl and the Alake Sports Centre, including the multipurpose hall, are such a beauty to behold. Go to the mainbowl of the MKO Abiola Stadium and behold the synthetic grass: it’s simply breathtaking. Hear an apparently excited Governor Abiodun: "The track that we installed here has already begun to reap benefits. The African Athletics Federation, because of the quality of our tracks, has chosen Ogun State to host the athletics competition in 2026 for the Under-20. So, you find that based on what we have done, Ogun State will now become home to other world-class competitions across the country, across Sub-Saharan Africa, and even internationally. For us, we are already excited that this investment has begun to yield dividends. This will be one of the legacies of our administration. Let me assure you that the stadium will only be used for sporting activities. To that extent, we've chosen to construct a pavilion somewhere behind the stadium, and that pavilion will now be used for rallies, parties, march pasts, October 1 celebrations, Labour Day celebrations, community days, and Democracy Day. "Our MKO AbiolaInternational Stadium has now gone beyond being just an MKO Abiola International Stadium; it is now an MKO AbiolaSporting Complex.”

 

With no less than 15,000 people billed to attend the NSF, the Abiodun government has been busy re-engineering the entire Ogun landscape. Among other things, it is giving the OlumoRock Tourist Center and other adjoining tourist centers a massive facelift to give visitors an unbeatable experience as the festival goes underway. The Governor articulates his vision so masterfully: "The festival itself will allow us to host maybe 15,000 people in the city of Abeokuta. You can imagine that those people will be eating and drinking; they will be transported back and forth. They will be buying recharge cards and water. They will be visiting our tourist sites. We are getting Olumo Rock and other adjoining tourist centers ready for the games. There will be a lot of visitors sleeping in hotels. The economic impact of this festival on the economy of this state can best be imagined; the multiplier effect will be felt more after the games.” 

As an aside, the Ogun helmsman is engineering moves to make the Gateway State to get a fat slice of this year’s DettyDecember visits by Nigerians in the disapora, taking advantage of the state’s proximity to Lagos. In any case, ahead of the NSF, Ogun State is partnering the arts and culture company, Terra Kulture, to establish a film and entertainment village in the state.As Governor Abiodun posited, the film village will help the state to preserve the legacies of those who have pioneered and excelled in the fields of music, film, drama, and entertainment.Governor Abiodun made this known when he received the Chief Executive Officer of Terra Kulture, Bolanle Austen Peters, in his Oke-Mosan office in Abeokuta. His words: “From the onset of our administration, we always wanted to have some sort of creative arts and entertainment zone, but when we assumed office, the government was laden with so many priorities. We wanted to ensure that we first paid attention to matters that touch the lives of the people directly. Because it is only when you are comfortable and happy that you will begin to think of relaxing and being entertained; we had to do that. We are confident that we have not just accomplished that; we've made the most of it, and our focus in the last year has been how to push the frontier in the areas of culture, music, and entertainment.”

Only an ignoramus will doubt the view that the NSF creates an opportunity for new talents to be discovered for both national and international sporting meets. It cannot but be cheering news that what the Abiodun administration has done with the investment in sporting facilities in the state is second to none.Indeed, in choosing Ogun as the 2024 NSF host, the Federal Government took ample notice of the massive infrastructure upgrade across the state, and it is in fact no coincidence that Bukola Olopade, the man that the Ogun State Government chose as the chair of the festival’s Local Organising Committee (LOC ), has just been appointed as the chairman of the National Sports Department Agency. It is certain that he will bring his wealth of experience to bear on the assignment and help Ogun make history as it hosts the NSF. The Ogun State government, as attested to by many, has created an enabling environment for business, and investors are moving into state in droves, buoyed by the deeply enhance infrastructure outlay.

A visit to the state will show that the government is indeed upgrading structures to attract tourists and give visitors a wow experience. No doubt, Ogun 2025 will expose state talents that will represent Nigeria, promote unity, and ensure brisk business for hoteliers, food entrepreneurs, dealers in clothing fabric, among others. Visit Ogun for the NSF, and have a fun-filled moment.

In any case, ahead of the NSF, Ogun State is partnering the arts and culture company, Terra Kulture, to establish a film and entertainment village in the state.As Governor Abiodun posited, the film village will help the state to preserve the legacies of those who have pioneered and excelled in the fields of music, film, drama, and entertainment.Governor Abiodun made this known when he received the Chief Executive Officer of Terra Kulture, Bolanle Austen Peters, in his Oke-Mosan office in Abeokuta. His words: “From the onset of our administration, we always wanted to have some sort of creative arts and entertainment zone, but when we assumed office, the government was laden with so many priorities. We wanted to ensure that we first paid attention to matters that touch the lives of the people directly. Because it is only when you are comfortable and happy that you will begin to think of relaxing and being entertained; we had to do that. We are confident that we have not just accomplished that; we've made the most of it, and our focus in the last year has been how to push the frontier in the areas of culture, music, and entertainment.”

Only an ignoramus will doubt the view that the NSF creates an opportunity for new talents to be discovered for both national and international sporting meets. It cannot but be cheering news that what the Abiodun administration has done with the investment in sporting facilities in the state is second to none.Indeed, in choosing Ogun as the 2024 NSF host, the Federal Government took ample notice of the massive infrastructure upgrade across the state, and it is in fact no coincidence that Bukola Olopade, the man that the Ogun State Government chose as the chair of the festival’s Local Organising Committee (LOC ), has just been appointed as the chairman of the National Sports Department Agency. It is certain that he will bring his wealth of experience to bear on the assignment and help Ogun make history as it hosts the NSF. The Ogun State government, as attested to by many, has created an enabling environment for business, and investors are moving into state in droves, buoyed by the deeply enhance infrastructure outlay.

A visit to the state will show that the government is indeed upgrading structures to attract tourists and give visitors a wow experience. No doubt, Ogun 2025 will expose state talents that will represent Nigeria, promote unity, and ensure brisk business for hoteliers, food entrepreneurs, dealers in clothing fabric, among others. Visit Ogun for the NSF, and have a fun-filled moment.

Ogun govt reaffirms commitment to water sector development

 

The Ogun State Government has reiterated its unwavering commitment to provision of portable  water  across the state, as a way of prioritizing  the welfare of the citizens.

Speaking during a recent facility tour of water schemes in the Yewa area, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Water Resources, Hon. Damilola Otubanjo, emphasized that access to clean, safe water is a basic human right and must not be influenced by zoning politics.

“Our focus is on service delivery,” she said. “Water is essential to life, public health, and economic stability. People face significant challenges accessing potable water, and our mission is to ensure water reaches every part of Ogun State—regardless of political alignment", she said.

Hon. Otubanjo explained that the visit to the Ilaro-Yewa Axis was aimed at assessing how to improve water infrastructure, including increasing pump capacity to extend coverage to more communities.

She also commended the Ogun State Water Corporation team, describing them as dedicated and vibrant. “We have a strong team. What they need is the right motivation and improved working conditions. My role is to advise the Governor on immediate and strategic interventions to restore public confidence in water service delivery,” she added.

She reaffirmed that all decisions regarding water projects are based on need, technical viability, and the potential for impact—not politics.

“As we continue implementing the Ogun State Water Supply Master Plan, the Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration remains people-focused. Our priority is ensuring every citizen has access to clean water, irrespective of location or political leaning,” Otubanjo stated.

Accompanying the tour, Consultant on Water, Alhaja Muinat Jaji, conducted assessments at key facilities including the Ibooro Borehole Scheme, Ajilete Package Treatment Plant, Owode Yewa Borehole Scheme, Ifo-Akinsinde Papalanto Water Scheme, Ella Water Scheme, Ilaro Reservoir, and the Ilaro Booster Station.

“The goal is to evaluate each scheme’s condition and determine whether to rehabilitate or replace them based on cost and effectiveness,” Otubanjo said. “Some schemes are operational or easily restorable, like Papalanto and Ibooro, while others like Owode Yewa require major work. In some cases, building new solutions may be more practical than reviving old systems.”

She emphasized the importance of the tour in crafting a comprehensive action plan to provide lasting solutions to the state's water challenges.

Abiodun felicitates Dangote on birthday

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has congratulated Africa's richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, on his birthday, saying he remains the pride of Africa.

The Governor, in a congratulatory message on Thursday, said Dangote has proven the inherent zeal, determination and entrepreneurship in Africa.

He said the business mogul's contributions to Nigeria economy and Africa at large can never be over-emphasized especially in the area of youth employment and corporate social responsibility. 

Prince Abiodun, therefore, prayed for more fulfilled years ahead for him and requisite strength to carry on the path economic growth and development. 

" I want to heartily congratulate my friend and brother, Alhaji Aliko Dangote on the occasion of his birthday, on behalf of the government and the people of Ogun State, I wish him more fulfilled years in sound health.

"May God Almighty continue to guide and guard him."

OGUN REITERATES COMMITMENT TO CIRCULAR ECONOMY, AS IT PARTNERS WITH DUTCH PLATFORM

 

Ogun State Government has reiterated its commitment to remain the headquarters of circular economy in Nigeria and sub Sahara Africa through creation of policy directions and enabling laws.

Commissioner for Environment,Dr Ola Oresanya gave the assurance when he received members of the Circular Business Platform from Netherlands who are on a Circular Economy Scoping Mission to the state tagged "Unlocking a Sustainable Future"in Abeokuta.

According to him,Ogun State is not just talking circular; circular economy is a huge business and  lifeline for millions hence the state remains the  headquarters of circular economy not only in Nigeria but in sub Sahara Africa.

While stating that the state government has not only created policy directions and laws,the state tick all boxes when it comes to all environmental issues,social and economic models adding that through deliberate intents,all the state government's projects answered the questions of circularity and regenerating processes.

Oresanya while welcoming the partnership with the Platform said from the presentation by all stakeholders about the opportunities and the state's giant stride in circular economy,it is clear to members of the Platform that circular economy has taken firm root in the state with interlude and interdependency.

He used the opportunity to announce that the state government will soon commence  intense trainings for thousands of youths on circular economy tagged"Ignite Ogun" to further expose them to the benefits of circular economy which will further consolidate on the state's position as the headquarters of circular economy not only in Nigeria but in sub-sahara Africa.

Speaking on the their scoping mission to the state,team lead of Circular Business Platform who doubles as the Deputy Consular-General of the Netherlands to Nigeria, Peter Keulers  said the partnership will further expand the knowledge of all stakeholders through trainings, workshops and exchange programmes on circular economy aside from creation of more jobs in the sector.

The team later visited the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library,OOPL where the former President assured them of his and state's government commitment to partnering with the Platform to further expand the scope and deepen the gains of circular economy in the Gateway State.

Gov. Abiodun flags off strategic leadership training for Ogun workforce

Ogun State Governor,  Prince Dapo Abiodun,  has  declared open a 5-day training on Strategic Leadership and Management Course for senior officials in the service, as he enjoined them to continue upholding integrity and accountability in all their dealings.

The training, which  had in attendance  Permanent Secretaries, Principals- General, General Managers, Clerk of the State House of Assembly, Auditor Generals, Executive Secretaries, and Heads of Professional Bodies in the State was held at the  National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies Oba (Dr) Sikiru Kayode Adetona School of Governance Studies (NIPSS-OSKASOGS) Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ogun State.

The Governor,  who was represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako - Oyedele, said as  citizens look up to the attendees to uphold the highest standards, they must continue to live by examples and remain faithful to the principles of transparency, responsibility and  diligent service.

While appreciating the dedicated professionals who form the bedrock of the Public Service of the State, Governor Abiodun hinted that  the training was promise made and promise kept, adding that the present participants would be the first to be trained at the Institute.

"This training is a reflection of our administration's commitment to strengthening the Public Service as a driver of development", he said.

The Governor appreciated the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Dr. Sikiru Kayode Adetona for facilitating the establishment of the Institution at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, as well as  President  Bola Tinubu for approving the school's take-over by the NIPSS, with relevant materials for effective and efficient delivery. 

In his remarks, the Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya acknowledged the Governor for his constant support and strong commitment to the progress of the public service in the state, saying the Governor  remained steadfast in his belief that a well equipped, knowledgeable and forward thinking Public Service is the foundation for governance and sustainable development.

Onasanya said", This strategic Leadership and Management Course we are witnessing today is yet another demonstration of the Governor's commitment to capacity building and professional excellence in the State  Public Service, it is a promise made and a promise kept".

He, therefore, assured that the invaluable investment of the Governor in human capital development of the public service of Ogun State will not go down the drain, as the knowledge, insights and skills acquired from the training will translate into enhanced governance and improve  efficiency in the service.

In his  goodwill message, the Head of Service of Lagos State, Mr. Bode Agoro, described the NIPSS training programme for the  top echelons of Ogun State's civil and public service as  pivotal, adding  that the Lagos State Government will key into  it for efficient service delivery.

Mr Agoro, who affirmed the visionary steps of Prince Abiodun towards advancing the course of Public/ Civil Service in the State, pointed out that it resonates with the staunch belief of the Babajide Sanwo- Olu's administration in Human Capital Development which would further  strengthen the collaboration of the two  States in general administration.

Other Speakers,  which include 

the  Chairman, Association of Retired Head of Service and Permanent Secretaries, Engr. Adeniyi Abiola,  former Head of Service, Princess Iyabo Odulate and the Chairman, Governor's Elders Advisory Council, Chief Oluneye Okuboyejo submitted that good governance is essential for the sustainability of any society and appreciated the Governor for providing quality leadership.

The Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba (Dr) Sikiru Kayode Adetona,  represented by His daughter,  Princess Adetoun Adetona described the flagging -off of the training programme as a fulfillment of his dream to provide opportunity for leadership development for the growth of the country, while the Ebumawe of Ago- Iwoye, Oba Abdul-Razak Adenugba described the Institute as a great legacy for humanity and thanked  Governor Abiodun for  maximizing the potentials for the benefit of the State.

Earlier in their separate addresses, the Director, NIPPS - OSKASOGS , Prof. Sola Adeyanju and the Director General , NIPPS,  Kuru Jos, Prof. Ayodeji Omotayo while recognising the critical roles that leadership and management play in reshaping the society expressed confidence that the training will not only shape the professional journeys of the participants but will also contribute to the realisation of a stronger, more sustainable and more prosperous Ogun State.

According to Professor Adeyanju, the 5-day intensive training will focus on  courses which include Fundamentals of Public Policy design and development,  policy harmonisation and coordination among others.
